Audio Mastering Services
Digital Brothers offers digital audio mastering services which prepare
your two-track recording for compact disc or cassette duplication. We have
the latest, cleanest and most efficient methods of mastering for CD and
cassette. We feature two digital mastering suites, both equipped with Sonic
Solutions digital audio workstations. Mastering includes the optional
use of the Lexicon Nuverb digital effects system and de-noising
facilities. Also available is the t.c. electronic M5000 Digital
Audio Mainframe. Over 2500 Compact Disc titles have been mastered at Digital
Brothers.
In the mastering process, all signal manipulation is done in the
digital domain, so there is no signal loss or tape degradation, as there
would be with analog tape. Also, because our workstations have your audio
signal on computer hard drives, the editing process can go very quickly.
Best of all, our digital audio workstations allow our engineers to test
all changes or modifications before they (or you) commit to them. Of course,
if the sound is already just what you want, we will leave it alone
and just transfer the material to CD-R without equalization. Because our
work is all in the digital domain, the mastering process can be completely
transparent.
The Mastering Process
The basic steps in the mastering process are:
-
Your 2 track source (see our formats page
for specifications) is loaded onto computer hard drive
-
All tracks are sequenced (as needed) and indexed
-
Inter-track spaces are cleaned up; time adjsutment, removal of clicks,
pops, or other extraneous sounds
-
Fades added, adjusted
-
Equalization performed Roll-off the recording to two CD-Rs: one for
you to take for proofing, the other as the source for CD or cassette replication
